Soave in Soave

About 14 miles east of Verona nestled amongst hectares of rolling vineyards is the small comune of Soave. We arrived late in the afternoon after a beautiful day tasting olive oil. What better way to round off our culinary palates than a stop in this tucked away small city surrounded by a medieval wall.

Just at the entrance of the wall is this enormous wine bottle representing the namesake of the town.

Entering the wall to go into the city are grapes hanging to dry. A testament of how important this wine region is.

As many times as we’ve been to Italy, I never knew the small town of Soave existed. I’m so happy we made this unexpected stop!

We enjoyed this wine bar and this beautiful Soave Superiore Classico.

Perfectly chilled.

We are in Italy in mid-November. There are holiday displays appearing and these gentlemen carolers stopping in for a wine tasting. John and Massimo discussing wine selections at the bar. Perfect ending to a perfect day!
